AKDER is a human rights association founded on September 15th, 1999 by women who were expelled from their educational and working life because of their attire. AKDER is a Civil Society Organization maintaining its justified struggle in all national and international platforms as being based on volunteerism.
Educational Activities:
- AKDER has found scholarships up to hundreds of students having education in Austria, Malaysia, Romania, Azerbaijan, Hungary and Bosnia Herzegovina since 2000.
- AKDER gives educational consultancy services to people about studying abroad.
- AKDER arranges instructive seminars on education, health, European Union, woman and politics.
Activities on law:
- AKDER gives juridical consultancy services to women. More than 1200 women benefited from the service between the years, 1998 and 2007.
- AKDER organizes meetings, press statements and demonstrations against the applications of headscarf ban contradicting to law since 1998. It arranges meetings with concerned local and international associations.

- Application demanding extension of boundaries of the draft on the protection of family.
- Legislative proposal to the Turkish Penal Code on sexual abuse of children.
Informational works about women’s rights on law codes:
- Women’s rights in the changes of civil code.
- Brochures of “stop domestic violence.”
- Field research on honor killings.
